Ethos

The Lloyd Williamson Schools aim to give every child a secure, structured environment in which everyone can be given the opportunities they need to achieve their full potential.
We pride ourselves on providing a positive, supportive and nurturing environment, built on a close bond between parents and the schools. We aim to create well-rounded children, who work hard, have independent learning skills and whose lives have been enriched by a variety of experiences.
The schools are co-educational and accept children with a wide range of backgrounds and natural ability. We encourage the value of being part of a team and appreciate the talents of both staff and children. There is a courteous informality between teachers and pupils, which is reflected in the use of first names, relational teaching and an enthusiastic commitment to the curriculum.
Aims
Our guiding principals are:
• High academic standards;
• A cohesive, friendly, dedicated staff;
• Small classes;
• Individual work programmes;
• A high level of pastoral support and care.
The Schools provide teaching of a high standard and, in addition to this, all interests and talents are actively encouraged. The curriculum covers the national core subjects and languages, but also includes reasoning skills, art history and music appreciation.
We believe we have an exciting and vibrant place to learn about the world at large and its diverse cultures and ethnicities.
The curriculum is designed with three purposes in mind:
- To promote each child’s ability to reach their individual potential in all aspects of life and culture.
- To develop the children’s intellectual and creative talents in order to give them a broad understanding across a wide and balanced curriculum.
- To cover core-subjects with significant depth and variety so that the children have the opportunity to reach the standard required for entry to secondary schools at 11 or 14 years.
